With all of these opportunities, you may assume that transitioning from stay at home life to work at home life may be easy. Making the decision to work at home is not always an easy decision to make. Weigh the Pro's of Working from Home.

There are many benefits to working out of the home. You can set your own hours and you won't have to pay as much for gas and travel related expenses. You can be there for your kids when they need you. Raising your child without the use of daycare is a real benefit of being a work from home mom. Your babies are only young once, and being able to stay at home with them is one of the top reasons that women choose a work from home career.

Weigh the Cons of Working from Home

The isolation of working at home can be an issue for some people. Will it be too much of a challenge to juggle work time and family time? If you're a person that works better under the watchful eyes of a supervisor, you may want to continue in your current line of work. You'll also have to look at the impact that working from home will have on your family's cash flow. As work from home mom, you'll save money on commuting expenses, work wardrobes, and daycare. Those savings really add up if you're transitioning from the in-person workforce.

Are you suited for working at home?

As an at-home professional, you'll either be an independent contractor for a company, a W-2 employee, or you can work for yourself. No matter what, you are going to have to adhere to a schedule. Many companies will let you set your own schedule, so you'll need to be extremely self-motivated. Time management skills are essential for work at home employees - you'll be faced with the work you need to get done for your job. At the same time, you'll also be in the midst of your household, where there are always things that need to be done. You'll want to carefully balance household chores with your paid work. Having good time management skills will help you tackle the diverse challenges of being a work from home.

Making the decision to become a work from home mom requires thought, consideration, and support from the people in your life, including your spouse and older children. If you are thinking about working from home because you are having a baby, or because you are tired of sending your children to daycare, carefully weight your options and take a look at the types of virtual jobs that are available to you. Make a list of pros and cons to see if you are up for the challenge. Talk things over with your family to ensure that you are making the right decision for the family unit.
