A commission is then only paid for that advertising space if a visitor to the website goes onto the website and pruchases something. Usually this commission is a percentage based commission and while this may not offer a huge income, it is easy to find various ones that offer a much higher commission based on the actual price of the product or service that is being offered.

For a company to expand their offerings to as wide an audience as possible, using an affiliate program can seriously help them achieve their goals without them having to spend anything substantial initially. To allow an affiliate to customize styles and sizes of their advertising can be very attractive to many affiliates, combine this with a decent commission rate and you will have them wanting to be a very productive affiliate site for you.

Affiliates tend to market their own webpage, allowing them to have a larger number of people which they can send to the companies* sites of which they are an affiliate. For a company to reach a large audience, it must essentially have more marketing opportunities, a notion achieved by having thousands of affiliates globally. Many of these affiliates are extremely knowledgeable in the world of web marketing and are focused on targeting their efforts on demographics that are interested in visiting their affiliate companies.

Visits from each affiliate can be easily tracked by the companies and they have the option of rewarding the top referral sites by compensating them over and above the average compensation. The opposite is also true where underperforming sites may be asked to remove their advertising.

It is this choice of productive sites which can boost business, sales and profit.
