Discourage Washer Mildew - Articles Surfing

Black mold are common complaints among modern households who use front-loading and top-loading machines. Eventually water collects in the rubber seal and if not managed properly the washing machines develop a ring of household mildew around the rubber seal. This is even more likely if you live in a humid climate or have a laundry room that is inadequately ventilated. Conditions like these are just what mold and mildew needs to thrive. Similarly, if you only wash with cold water or leave your damp clothes in the washing machine for an extended period of time then you are also encouraging the development of mold and mildew.

The cool temperature will not kill the bacteria that cause mildew and so it is always a good idea to dry your clothes promptly after washing and to keep them as fresh as possible. To get rid of mildew and discourage its future growth just follow these easy steps. To clean the rubber seal of your washing machine just use a solution of one cup of chlorine bleach to two cups of warm water. Wipe with a soft cloth soaked in the bleach solution. Make sure to first wipe the areas where water and the bacteria will be most concentrated. This would be the lower portion of the door seal.

Wipe evenly to ensure mold and mildew prevention. Follow up by wiping the entire seal and then fill the bleach dispenser with bleach and run the washer through a complete cycle on the hot water setting. Make sure that the washing machine has no laundry. Repeat this process of every two to four months to keep mildew in check. Mold and mildew in your house is not only unsightly, it is also a health risk to your family. If a family member is suffering from asthma, chances are, mold and mildew can worsen its symptoms and in others can cause nasal congestion, coughing and wheezing. Even if you are a healthy individual, you could also eventually develop an allergic reaction to mold and mildew.

Do not wait for mold and mildew to invade your laundry room. Using ordinary mold and mildew cleaners is not advisable now that studies have shown that these can cause indoor pollution. They contain harsh and toxic chemicals that might damage the skin and other vital organs of the body. It is better if you use cleaning agents that are all natural and contain organic formulation. These cleaners totally remove every particle of bacteria-causing mildew and are very safe to use. They deodorize the affected areas and leave them smelling fresh and clean. Prevent mold and mildew with the right mold and mildew cleaner.

If mold comes back, as in the cases when ordinary cleaners were used, some call in a professional cleaning service or ask their plumber if they know or can recommend someone. This might prove to be costly and time-consuming for you. But if you have not yet discovered any traces of mold and mildew indoors, do not wait for them to appear and start taking precautionary measures to prevent it from happening. To do this, you must understand how mold and mildew enters your home and the conditions that allow these organisms to spread indoors. Maintain vigilance and equip yourself with the right information.
