Don't Relegate The Waste Paper Basket To The Garbage! - Articles Surfing

Just because the office waste paper basket is meant to collect waste, that doesn't mean it cannot add to the overall decor and style of the office. There are very few things that attract the eye upon entering an office like an out of place, poorly maintained waste basket. What makes the waste basket fit in then? There are five key qualities that will match the basket to the job that you expect of it ' handling the trash in a stylish yet unobtrusive manner.

1) A very important quality a waste paper basket should have is aesthetics. The overall design of the basket should harmoniously integrate in the design of the office. This includes factors such as the color, shape and construction material. For example, a classic office, with that indistinguishable touch of elegance brought by hardwood mahogany floors and a sculptured wood desk would benefit from a mahogany hardwood trimmed waste basket in order to obtain a balanced decor. Other types and styles of baskets are available to match various decors including wire mesh and enameled metal. An inappropriate choice, for example, would be a metallic waste basket, which would disrupt the aesthetics of the classic, wood toned office. This type of waste basket would be more appropriate for a modern office, with minimal office furniture and metallic office accessories.

2) Shape can be a decisive element in choosing quality hardwood waste baskets. You will find that there are many available shapes to choose from, such as round, oval, rectangular or square waste baskets. Ultimately, the shape is a matter of personal decision, but you can still consider the surrounding environment of the office when choosing the shape of the waste basket. Therefore, if you have an office that was decorated mainly following a curvilinear theme, and all the furniture and office accessories were chosen according to this theme, than you can continue this theme in the waste basket.

3) Does the waste basket have the right size? There is no perfect size when it comes to waste baskets. Other than matching the size to your expected volume of waste, the best recommendation is that the size should be moderate, not too large and not too small - usually somewhere around 10 inches diameter in case of a round office waste basket and 8 to 12 inches in width/length for rectangular. The ideal height ranges from 10 to 15 inches. You will want to ensure the size is large enough to easily contain the amount of waste generated between emptying times.

4) Is the office waste basket easy to handle? The waste basket should have an open top for maximum efficiency and ease of use. In addition, minimal handling of the basket will prolong it's life time. This means that it should be able to easily accept waste bags or have a removable liner for emptying. This also helps in cleaning the basket from any unwanted materials that may come to coat the inner surfaces.

5) Easy general maintenance. Usually cleaning is not required except for the inevitable spill or accident with a messy substance. Selection of easily cleaned surfaces can make such cleanups simple and quick and preserve the pristine look of the waste basket.

So that's all there is to selecting the right waste paper basket for your office and office decor. A bit of thought and these factors should give you years of hassle free waste basket service.
