The Power Of Mentors - Articles Surfing

There is great value in having mentors. Mentors give you a bigger view of something that allows you to succeed in your own endeavors by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others. By watching someone handle a situation you can learn the best approach for creating a desired outcome. Mentors that teach you the mindset of wealth and show you how to create and manage your money are the most valuable. In the company I'm with, Advantage Conferences, LLC, the power of mentoring is a must. When you first enroll, your enroller is your mentor, your trainer is your mentor, and even the President of the company is your mentor'he does weekly training calls that are both teaching and interactive. They each set before us an example we can follow to succeed.

I was watching First Business Morning News on March 9, 2006, and they described the importance of 'power mentoring' as not only a good idea, but necessary. According to the news report, those involved in an enterprise should have at least three types (Advantage Conferences incorporates all three):

Inspirational mentors
E-mentors (online)
Reverse mentors (younger)

If you're not with a company right now that provides the mentors, here are some guidelines you might want to follow:

1. Select a mentor that you respect and admire. It should be someone who is already successful in the area in which you want to succeed. Be sure to choose a person that will build you up, encourage you, counsel you, and help you get the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.

2. When first forming your relationship you must be clear about what it is that you want to learn and why. You should have clearly defined goals to share with your mentor. This demonstrates that you've thought about what you want to accomplish through the relationship, and by understanding your goals, your mentor can best help you realize them.

3. Be sure that you are responsible and accountable to your mentor. Always follow through on what he or she says. If you're given a task or an assignment, accomplish it. Inspire them to continue working with you with your good attitude. Practice gratitude by remembering to say, "thank you." Don't forget, everyone needs encouragement so a little praise never hurts.

*John F. Kennedy was a great mentor to the American people. He dared Americans not to sit back on the status quo but to take up new challenges to push themselves to the limit. He challenged Americans to put a man on the moon before the end of the decade (that was in the beginning of 1960 and look how far we've come). John F. Kennedy's great mentor was his father.
