How You Can Avoid The 3 Most Costly Affiliate Mistakes - Articles Surfing

There is no doubt that affiliate marketing is indeed a very easy means through which you can make a fortune; a great fortune if you so chose. It is one of the effective ways through which you can make tons of cash online thereby earning your share of the growing internet riches. This is so because joining affiliate marketing is free and all you have to do is refer others to the products you are promoting and leading them to your merchant's landing page where the prospect makes a purchase and you are paid a commission. In most cases, the commissions you get are not less than 50% and are often as high as 75 %.

However, easy as this may sound there are indeed pitfalls and mistakes that are often made by affiliate marketers which if not carefully considered and avoided might result in avoidable financial costs to you and even lead to your eventual exit from this lucrative business. Thus, in order not to continue losing large amounts of money from your profits, it is better to learn of these costly mistakes and take steps to avoid them as it is a popular saying that 'prevention is better than cure'.

Mistake number 1: To Choose the wrong affiliate programme

Undoubtedly, we live in fast times today so people are always looking for the very lightning way to make tons of cash. This therefore makes some to follow the bandwagon of joining one opportunity after opportunity and to promote one 'hot' product after another. In other words, they join any programme that they think or are told is going to deliver fast result to them with little or no effort on their part. They end up with a product that they know little about or care about. This is a mistake.

You should rather choose a product that appeals to you and to which you find some reasonable level of personal attachment as this will make it much easier to promote. You need to conduct some research to find what products are actually demanded by your target market and deliver it to them without you frantically working to convince disinterested people that your product is good for them. Avoid jumping from opportunity to opportunity but develop your action plan to promote a programme that is the outcome of careful study and evaluation.

Mistake number 2: To Join several affiliate programs.

We have stated above that it is almost always free to join an affiliate programme and this may tempt others to join as many as possible with the belief that doing this will rake in quantum of money for them. Moreover, one may also think that there is hardly anything wrong with doing so.

However, this could be a costly mistake where you intend to promote all the programmes you have joined separately,i.e. advertising all your several affiliate sites separately. This is quite obviously going to be tasking, distracting and cumbersome. In the end, it will not allow you to concentrate on any of the programmes and you will likely end of up as a 'jack of all affiliate programmes and master of none'. You will fritter away scarce resources with little or no result to show for it.

It must be stated however, that where you are able to run all the affiliate programmes you are associated with from one website or interface simultaneously, then, the observations made above may not necessarily apply. Infact, this model could also be practical and profitable. In any case, the idea is that you should join and promote several affiliate programmes separately at the same time. You could join just one that pays high commission and give all your attention to it until it starts making money steadily before you venture into another one.

Remember 'slow and steady wins the race'. You are trying to create a sound financial future for yourself and there is therefore no need for you to rush into things unnecessarily. Do not win the battle and lose the war.

Mistake number 3: failure to purchase the product or use the service.

You will find it much easier to promote a product more convincingly where you have personally used the product. Your explanations will be more truthful and this can easily be sensed by your prospective customers and therefore more effective. A testimonial from a passionate heart is more effective in persuading people to part with their hard-earned money than any straight-faced logic that can always be cancelled out by logic.

Therefore, take time to purchase the product, use it and discover its strengths and weaknesses. This will confirm to you whether it has delivered on its claims and promises making it easier to pass these to your customers more sincerely and authoritatively. The resultant effect, of course, will be an avalanche of sales and more commissions to your account.

In conclusion, you have to carefully consider all your choices and viable options before embarking on any practical step. Develop a winning strategy, follow the right track and smile all the way to the bank. In the contrast, disregarding these pitfalls and rushing-in thoughtlessly into these avoidable mistakes may cost you dearly and even send you out of business.
