Book Writing

If you are considering writing a book, but do not know where to start then you are not alone. If you think book writing is simple you might want to consider the decisions needed to write the book. You will also need to consider the time required to write the book, and many other related subjects in book writing. Therefore, you think anyone can write a book…Well, you are right in one way, but wrong in a large way.

With the wealth of information composed via the Internet, nowadays it is making it easier for people to write a book. The web tells us that we need titles for our book, writing time, and skills in dictating and typing. We are also informed that we need to decide which genre our book will focus and how to get in touch with a publishing once the book is finished. We might want to consider an agent when publishing our book, or self-publishing the book when it is finished. What about editing, polishing, structure, and revisions, have you considered this necessity for your book? As you can see, there are many details and this is only a small list of details involved in the process of book writing. Now, I am not trying to discourage you, rather I am helping to see what book writing entails and help you to avoid setting yourself up for failure. In this article, I am going to brief you on a few details and instruct you briefly on the details required of writing a book, marketing the book, and publishing the book. One of the best methods for marketing your book once it is finished is to understand Genre. If you send your book to a variety of publishers and the Genre is not listed then you are subject to rejections and possibly Black Marketed for wasting publisher’s valuable time. Genre is the categories of literary, musical, or artistic compositions that are characterized by specific styles, content, and forms. Once you understand the Genre your book is going in then you can start looking for a Publisher to propose your book. If you intend to Self-Publish your book then you must be advised that there are fees in this process and the fees are expected in advance. There are many reasons people resort to Self-Publisher, so you will need to ask questions. Is my book publishable without paying a publisher? This is a start, but do not stop here.

Self-Publishing

Self-Publishing is selling your book on the marketplace to a publisher that publishes your work for a fee. If this is your last resource, it is ok, but if you can market your book without paying a large upfront fee why not go this route first. At MULTIPLE PROJECT DEVELOPMENT, we are here to help you learn techniques, strategy, and provide you resources for marketing your book. If you are in need of an editor then we can help you out. We are also ready to provide you with a list of publishers sending you in the right direction for publishing your book.

The list will include address, name, phone, fax, instructions, and other details for marketing your book. We can also help you with Cover Letters, Queries, Outlines and so forth for book marketing.

Publishing

Publishing is not easy and anyone that tells you that publishing is a breeze is only setting you up for heartache. In fact, my publisher told me that one in 50,000 ever see the publishing world. There are many details when it comes to being published. First, and foremost you will need one completed book to market. If the book is not finished DO NOT send the book to a publisher since you will waste both your time and the publisher’s time.

Will I need an Agent to market my book? Many feel that an Agent is needed for marketing books. This is true if you are trying to market your book to publishers that pay upfront advances against Royalties, or if you are marketing to an agency that will only allow submissions from Agents.

Editing

Editing requires that a person have an overall knowledge of English, style, format, structure, art, creativity and so forth. Editors will polish, critique, cut, and work hard to make a book publishable. Editors often enjoy books that are a breeze to edit, since their plates are often full, editing hundreds of books daily.
