Beautification of feet is usually a much neglected area of a make-up routine. These are the great body parts that carry us around, irrespective of our weight, and we never care for them. Henna is a natural type of body art that is a temporary and safe alternative to get a real tattoo on any part of your body. The artists of henna tattoo make use of the natural ink of henna made form the powder of leaves of a henna plant. The artist makes a paste of the henna powder and paints an attractive foot henna design on your foot, or any other body part where you want a tattoo. The tradition of tattooing with henna has been in practice for thousands of years. The tombs of pharaoh in Egypt have also some traces of henna's existence, and it is still very popular as a natural tattooing process today.

Before the application of henna on the skin, you must make sure that your skin is not allergic to it. You can do this by testing a very small amount of henna paste on your body and see if there are any allergic reactions visible on it. Although henna rarely cause any allergic reaction in people, because it is completely herbal and natural and quite safe on any kind of skin, but it is better to be on the safer side especially if you have a sensitive kind of skin. Once you have made sure that your skin is not allergic to henna, you or the henna tattoo artist may begin to work with it on your skin.

Although the colors of henna tattoos are limited to shades of green, red, black or brown, there is no limit to attractive designs, patterns and images which can be formed with henna. You can also make use of aids like design books, stencils, bindis, transfer tattoos and faux jewelery and make some striking foot henna design on your feet. The colour of the henna ink that comes on your skin also depends largely on the tone and type of your skin. You can also check, if you will get the desired result or not, by doing a patch test first.

There are many ways to make henna paste, among which, one of the most popular recipes is: take 3 cups boiling water, add 2 table spoons of black tea or coffee to it and boil it for the time till it gets reduced to only half a cup. Then add a tea-spoon full of eucalyptus oil, juice of half lemon and one tea-spoon sugar into it. Mix it carefully with a spoon and put it down for at least six hours. It is advisable to leave it for the whole night, so that you get a beautiful deep brown black colour on your feet.
