Car Dent Repair: To DIY Or Not To DIY, That Is The Question - Articles Surfing

Picture this: you just acquired a four-seat sports coupe, a Porsche 911 to be specific. With a detailed plan in your hand, you went straight to an auto shop to *personalize* your vehicle. New paint job, new fabrics for the seats, new rims for the wheels and a whole lot of accessory blings. From the shop, you proudly make your way home when suddenly ^wham!^ a kid accidentally hit the side of your car creating a dent. The kid scurries off leaving you and your pimped and, dare I say, newly dented coupe. Devastating, isn*t it? Unimaginable even. Allow me to ask this out loud, don*t you just want to wring the neck of the kid? I know I would. But let's not go there. To hire a professional to do paintless dent removal is one of your options another would be to do it yourself.

You may opt to DIY, you might even say car dent repair is easy. Here's my question: Are you sure? Are you that confident with your skills as not to cause further damage the vehicle? Remember, we*re not just talking about any vehicle, we*re talking about your precious vehicle. I know there are a lot of car dent removal products on the market that all make the same claim---completely eliminate the ding. One may be tempted to buy a certain item off boob tube. I don*t know, maybe it's just me but I have this nagging feeling preventing me to add hot glue to the car's body paint. I*ve been scouring the internet for various DIY remedies; I saw one requiring the use of putty knives, body hammers and touch-up paints. Step one: drill a hole in the center of the dent. What?! Do you really expect me to deliberately make a hole in my car? I*ve encountered a variety of reviews and testimonials regarding different products in this particular industry. There are those that say a certain item works better than the other and there are those that say the items work equally well eventhough not perfect. This is the variable with regard DIY. The result for different users varies. I assume that the more experienced an individual in using the product, the more positive the outcome will become. You might even end up pulling the metal too much creating a bump.

Let us turn our attention to the body shop fix. One word, e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e---but it's worth the cost. For people who value their car far more than their money, then go for the auto body shop repair. These establishments offer a line of services from removing ding, dents and scratches. Majority of the industry players provide quality restoration----and this is the value you'll get for your money. Actually, the price, it's not constant. There are paintless dent removal companies that present discounts and are open to haggling. I recommend that you browse the internet, jot down your prospective companies, then call them. Do they have special packages? Discounts? Free estimates? Do they guarantee anything? Do a little background check. It's times like this that snooping is encouraged. Before finalizing anything, make sure you have everything down---every detail must be included.

These are a few of points that need to be raised when looking for a car dent repair company. Whatever option you choose, be it DIY or professionally done, what's important is that you remove the ding or dent of your car.
