New Strides In Car Share In India - Articles Surfing

SMS to get a car pool for yourself, soon.

The biggest difference between a village and metro these days is not lack of opportunities, not the electricity thanks to high power cuts in metros, not the mode of communication thanks to telecomm revolution. Well, I guess it's the connectivity problem where villages are still the better place and yes credit goes to the car manufactures and banks for providing easy loan so that Indian nou-veaux riches can actually stand by its name and class. Taking about connectivity traffic jams are still biggest hurdle where every effort of government has gone in vain.

According to my reading and introspection an average man wastes more than a year of his life in waiting for anything. Hence it could be either for bus or for a jam to clear up or his dream partner to actually come from dream to reality. Well marriage bureaus, matrimonial websites have done stupendous work but what for the connectivity between the office and home. Well, here come a million dollar question are there any websites or organization which could get us rid of the nuisance of the traffic jams.

As far as my little knowledge is concerned the effort has been taken by an NGO (non governmental organization) - Mumbai Environmental Social Organization (MESO) in embarking a unique concept which is an organized and secure car-pooling system that runs via SMS. This is an attempt at facilitating car-pooling in Mumbai and other large metro cities of the country. Running on the concept *the more the merrier* the organization envisages catering large organization and corporation for the first three months.

Besides being a very good eco-friendly practice it actually has emerged as an industry and also helps less fuel consumption. Not only helps in reducing driving related stress carpools provide social connections in an increasingly disconnected city. Some larger carpools offer "sweeper services" of late pick-up options for people having to stay longer at work. One form of backup is an arrangement with a local taxi company.

Well, a coin always has two sides, in North America hitchhiking is forbidden in some areas, such as near prisons. In some cases, a local government, such as New York City where hitchhiking is widely considered very dangerous, may ban it altogether. Certain US states have created conditional bans, such as Utah, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Nevada; it is frequently illegal on the actual shoulder of Interstate highways, but is usually legal from highway on-ramps. Nevada, for instance, bans hitchhiking, or signaling for a ride, altogether, but walking on rural interstates is permitted. The same law applies in Wyoming. On the other hand, the state of Oregon (with the exception of counties in the tri-met bus system--Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington) permits the freedom of hitchhiking as well as walking right on the Interstate. Many Canadian highways similarly have hitchhiking bans.

Due to the increased risks the Soviet Union instituted a coupon system that benefited the driver. It was probably similar in other communist countries. Hitchhiking was likely considered much safer in Poland at that time. In Cuba, truck drivers are still obliged to pick up hitchhikers. And in Romania hitchhiking is so much part of the culture that it can be hard to get a lift simply due to the intense competition.

As far as India is concerned car pooling, lift sharing or hitchhiking the concept is still very new and can be en efficient tool in conservation of fuel as per the HPCL officer if done in rightful manner. The onus lies on agencies and the commuters to take sensible and professional step towards the safety and belief of the passengers. After all, an Indian today is very conscious of the easiness of any new practice being followed. They are not late any more!!!!!!!!!
