As a modern entrepreneur the benefits of working for myself have been no secret to me. For a months now I have enjoyed the ability to start work when I wanted to, to take a lunch break when I was hungry, I could put my feet on the desk without getting funny looks from anyone and not to mention working to my own deadlines and answering only to myself.

And I think you would find, upon asking my other work from home colleagues that these are the bonuses that they too enjoy.

Sure you have no-one to push you if you feel like havening a lazy day but funnily enough when you*re the only person that's going to pay you, you tend to work quite hard anyway.

No boss, no 60 minute commute, no stale sandwiches at lunch time, what more could a girl want?

The reason I write this article though is to share with you my complete gratitude to my boss * ME.

You see at the time of writing this article I am rather unwell. Nothing life threatening just one of those annoying colds that doesn*t ever seem to improve no matter how many times you blow your nose.

Well waking up this morning, I*ve got to say I felt pretty rotten and could think of no greater punishment than being forced to put on a uniform or a suit and travel one hour on the over crowded roads and railways to sit, stand or jump to the orders of several other people who don*t want to be there any more than I do.

So instead, I rolled out of bed at around 9am to collect my laptop from my office downstairs made myself a cup of tea and returned swiftly to the sanctuary of my bed where I proceeded to work at my own pace for the rest of the day - in-between the odd power nap to keep my strength up.

So I would like to extend a big thank you to my boss * ME - for forcing me to quit my j.o.b (just over broke) and take my future in my own hands, and for not making me feel guilty for having a sick day.

These are the benefits of working from home, and they are available to you too. All you need to do is grab at the opportunities that come your way or better still, make your own.
