A Nursing Cover Letter For Professionals: Caring For Patients And Career - Articles SurfingNurses are indispensable at any hospital or health care institution. They can provide basic medical care to patients, assist doctors in their work, and show the gentle, caring side of the medical profession. In doing so, they can make patients feel more comfortable, despite the constant prodding of painful needles; they can make patients obey doctors orders more docilely, despite the prospect of even more tests and scans to be done. Nurses are important, and demand for them is growing all over the world. If you are applying to be a nurse, then you have doubtless slaved countless hours through nursing school in order to stand out amongst the thousands of other applicants vying for the same position. You might also have sacrificed a few years to gain experience in smaller clinics, with the hope of securing a job in a better paying institution on the basis of the richness and breadth of your career. Both your grades and your experience are important * sadly, they can mean nothing if you do not have the people skills required for nurses. How can you show your prospective employers that you are the best nurse for the job opening that they are advertising? You need a great nursing cover letter to back up your great grades and burgeoning career; you need to attach a well-worded nursing cover letter to your rich resume and enviable transcript of grades. You need to use the power of the nursing cover letter to show your prospective employers what the resume and transcript cannot: your personality and your passion for your career. As you care for your patients, so should you care for your nursing cover letter. Your goal is to provide exemplary medical care to those who need it; make this goal stand out in your nursing cover letter. Do research about the hospital or health care institution with which you might be working. What are its specialties? Is it good for cardiology, neurology, orthopedic, or emergency cases? What are its goals? Is it seeking to expand into other areas of medical care? Is it engaged in laboratory research? Knowing your prospective employers perfectly can help you craft the perfect nursing cover letter. Address your letter to the person who will be interviewing or hiring you, and stay away from any generic greeting that can alienate the person to whom you are addressing the letter. State not only why you are a good nurse, but why your career goals are aligned with the goals of the health care institution. You need to show that you are the only person for the job, so don*t sell yourself short! On the other hand, avoid using overblown language that can turn off your prospective employer. Be gentle and wise in your language, but be exciting, and show your passion for the health care profession as well. Do not gush, however; use clear, direct, concise language that will catch the attention of whoever reads the nursing cover letter. Remember, many prospective employers have their own cases to attend to, so you want to make a great impression right off the bat. Never underestimate the power of the nursing cover letter. Your transcript and resume will show only how you were made into a nurse, but your cover letter will show why you should be one. If you communicate yourself clearly and show your passion, then your personality will shine through the cover letter. All these are important elements of the nursing profession, and a well-written nursing cover letter can allow you to progress in your career.
