Secondly is the benefit that you have full control over the type of treatment you will handle as a certified addiction counselor working in private practice. You are not required to manage whatever twelve step program is at present in fashion at the institution at which you work and can develop your own program specifically tutored to your patient.

For sure, it is more typical for a certified addiction counselor to work in an institution. This enables them to work together with other professionals, and to really make a difference in the lives of those who have fallen farthest through their addictions. A certified addiction counselor in an institution works with people whose addictions are so severe that they have necessitated dropping out of society for a while to recover, and working with these people, there is simply so much difference you can make in their lives!
