The original lineup consisted of keyboardist David Bryan, lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, bassist Alec John Such, drummer Tico Torres and guitarist Richie Sambora. However, Alec John Such moved out of the band in 1994 and Hugh McDonald was asked to join the band. The rest of the lineup has remained same for the past 25 years. In early 1980s, the members decided to name the group as Bon Jovi and they released their first album in 1984 which was also titled as Bon Jovi. The album was a hit in U.S. as over 500,000 copies were sold. Later on, they decided to release the album in UK and they even appeared on the popular television program American Bandstand. The band went ahead and released the second album in 1985 and the second album was titled as 7800 Fahrenheit. However, the band faced some tough time as the album received the poor response and the band was not able to leave a mark on the charts. Later on, even Job Bon Jovi agreed that the album could have been better. The band then used the services of Desmond Child, a songwriter, for their third album and the album was a hit. It was titled as Slippery When Wet and over 26 million copies were sold worldwide. They continued the good work and released their fourth album New Jersey in 1988. The album was a commercial hit and the album became the first hard rock album to spawn five top singles. In 1992, Keep the Faith was released which featured a number of tracks and most of them were able to hit the Top 40 in U.S. while others were released as singles internationally. Cross Road was released in 1994 which featured the hit single Always. The song was able to make it to #4 on the U.S. charts and even #1 in Asia, Australia and in countries across Europe.
