Have You Looked at Your Nutritional Supplements Today? - Articles Surfing

It certainly sounds like such a silly question: Have you looked at your nutritional supplements today? But the answer you give is as important as remembering to take them per your individual regimen. Why? Consider these four reasons'

1. You have changed and will continue to change over time.

If you haven't altered your nutritional supplements for about a decade or so (or even longer), it's high time to reevaluate what you're taking, how much you're taking, and why you're taking them.

For instance, if you're a woman in your late 30s, you may still be ingesting nutritional supplements that were recommended for you in your mid-to-late 20s. Though they won't necessarily harm you, they also might not be helping you as much as they could. You probably need more calcium than you did before; alternatively, you may need less folic acid if you're finished bearing children.

By examining your nutritional supplements and doing a little homework on which vitamins and nutritional supplements you should be taking at various stages in your life, you can ensure that you're getting the right dosages for you.

2. Your physical and mental health varies throughout your life.

Rheumatoid arthritis. High blood pressure. Elevated cholesterol levels. They happen to the best of us, and your nutritional supplements may not be tackling these conditions effectively.

Take some time to ponder your current medical needs and juxtapose them with your medical needs at the time that you started taking nutritional supplements and vitamins. Chances are, you've changed, at least a bit. If it helps, write down all your new medical concerns and then investigate nutritional supplements to see which could assist you.

3. As we age, our risk factors increase for certain diseases.

Don't forget that nutritional supplements can also be taken as preventive measures. For example, if obesity after age 50 runs in your family, you may want to begin taking vitamins(http://www.mitamins.com), herbs(http://multiconditions.mitamins.com/), and minerals to combat a steady weight gain.

Never underestimate nutritional supplements as a way to stave off inevitable conditions like everyday aging and decline in mental faculties. For many individuals, choosing the proper vitamins can make a world of difference in how exceptional their qualities of life are.

4. Nutritional supplements and vitamins WILL expire at some point!

Finally, don't forget that you cannot keep nutritional supplements in your cabinet forever. (This is taking the look at your vitamins and nutritional supplements quite literally.)

If you have some nutritional supplements that are quite old, throw them away and get new ones. Most have expiration dates on them, but if you have a bottle without an expiration listed, use your gut. If you cannot remember when you purchased them, its probably time to get a new bottle.

Though its unlikely that an expired vitamin product will grow toxic, it could make you sick. Even if it just no longer works, it could be harmful, so when it doubt, pitch it out.

(Important Side Note: If you were taking your daily nutritional supplements(http://www.mitamins.com), this wouldnt happen!)
