Unadvertised Pharmaceutical Sales Jobs - Articles Surfing

What can be very surprising to many people is that the majority of available jobs out there at any one time is in the hidden market. That is, 80% of all available jobs out there are unadvertised. That means whenever we see job postings in newspapers and online, they represent only 20% of all available positions. This is true pretty well across all industries and fields. This is certainly the case for unadvertised pharmaceutical sales jobs.

Although it is much easier to simply send in resumes to job postings from the newspapers and career boards online, people who use only these routes in their job hunt will be missing the boat since the bulk of openings are not advertised. The other main fact is that most job seekers out there are all looking at the same newspaper ads and will all be sending in their resumes to the same job postings. Therefore, the competition for these specific jobs will be extremely high. The odds are certainly not in your favor if you apply only to these advertised pharmaceutical sales jobs.

Over half of the positions I worked in for both the pharmaceutical industry and other fields were originally unadvertised ones. These hidden jobs are not made public via job postings in the newspaper. They will only go public if it turns out that they can't be filled either internally through promotions or through personal connections. Most of the time, these positions are able to be filled without the company having to do formal recruitments through newspaper ads.

Going after unadvertised pharmaceutical jobs has so many advantages for the job hunter. Not only is there much less competition for these jobs since most people out there won't know about them, but they actually represent most of the pharmaceutical sales openings available. There is no reason why you should deny yourself access to the full pharmaceutical sales job market out there. It makes perfect sense to apply for both advertised and unadvertised pharmaceutical sales jobs.

It does take more ground work in finding these hidden jobs but by doing so, it will show pharmaceutical sales managers just how much more resourceful you are compared to the average job candidate. Then after you have landed that hidden pharmaceutical sales position, you could simply smile when your competition is still complaining about the lack of job openings in the newspaper.
