Are You Being A Good Guy Or A Plain Old Procrastinator - Articles SurfingBeing able to say "no" is a monumental feat for some people. Are you able to say "no" when it's important to your own success? Say, you have your hour, your day, your week or whatever time planned out. You are on a quest to accomplish more and manage your time better than ever before. You have even made the 'to do' list to follow. Then, along comes a friend or colleague who asks for your help in completing one of his/her tasks. How likely are you to help this person without even giving it a second thought to your own plans? Are you being a good guy or just practicing procrastination? Procrastination could very well come to mind in a situation such as this. Procrastination usually comes about when we need to do something that we don't want to do because it is boring or requires too much effort. We'll do anything for anybody rather than to do the task at hand. People who make a habit of procrastinating are left with a perpetual feeling of things unfinished, and that is not good for them or their morale. Putting things off results in jobs accumulating, and accomplishments, if there are any, at an unacceptable level. You (and others as well) might begin to see yourself as a lazy person who has no interest or focus. If you are easily distracted and have the tendency to put off until tomorrow what you should be doing today, don't try to fool yourself into thinking you'll have more time tomorrow, because you won't. Just face it. Try a new tactic. Get the job done today. The relief you'll feel when you can free your mind of unfinished business is well worth the effort you have put forth. I love Nike's slogan. It should become the mantra of every procrastinator... Just do it!
