A Suggested Acronym for Success
1. L is for Laughter:
Leadership often requires a sense of humor. You must be willing to laugh at yourself or situations and yet continue to press onward and upward. It's key to self preservation!
2. E is for Example:
Setting a good example is an important part of leadership. You need to look, act and think like a leader. If you want people to respect you as a leader, give them a positive picture of how a leader conducts herself.
3. A is for Attitude:
A real leader maintains a positive mental outlook and doesn't dwell on what may go wrong. Instead the leader sets about finding out alternatives to improve a situation.
4. D is for Desire:
To lead, you have to want to lead! It is something you want to do because it is at the core of who you are.
5. E is for Excellence:
Leadership requires that one always does the best possible. A leader strives towards excellence knowing it may not always be reached.
6. R is for Risk:
A leader knows that risk taking is necessary to leadership. They understand the adage: �Nothing ventured, nothing gained.�
7. S is for Sharing:
A leader is open, honest and generous when sharing what they know.
8. H is for Help:
Leaders know that to see growth within their organization, they must help others to become leaders as well. They give others the opportunity to take the forefront and applaud and support the success of those people.
9. I is for Intelligence:
An intelligent leader is one who recognizes the need for continued mental growth by adding to their store of knowledge. A leader will undertake professional education but also knows that not everything one needs to know can be learned from a book. The ability to interact with people at all levels is also a characteristic of a true leader.
10. P is for Perseverance:
Leaders know that they must not give up at the first hint of a problem or when results aren�t what is expected. They �hang in there� and see a thing to conclusion-no matter what.

Certainly there are many other words which could define a leader or leadership.(Integrity, Planning, Loyalty all come to mind.) It's up to the individual to decide what acronym will define their own leadership style.
