4 Ways to Use a Physician List - Articles Surfing

What is a Physician List and what is its relevance to a business selling to that target? For starters, a physician list refers to an office-based physician database that is regularly updated and covers more the majority of practicing physicians in the United States. With regards to the definition of 'physician', I mean practitioners of the different schools of medicine such as acupuncture, neurology and psychology. A regularly updated physician list covers vital information such as physician's name, mailing address, telephone numbers and fax numbers. While some might think they can market to physicians without having a database of the physician's names and addresses, the fact is that a mailing list of physicians is a necessity for any business that needs to market to that industry. To begin, I'll list four ways to use a physician list.

Perhaps you're just starting out into the world of business. The product, which you are selling, has many potential uses in the field of medicine. However, a critical problem is that nobody knows you yet. Yes, as a startup, you lack the necessary leads and contacts so vital for you business to grow. In such an instance, a physician list will be necessary for your business. With all the necessary information regarding physicians from all over the country, you would be able to have greater opportunities in marketing your product. Perhaps you would like to send brochures to the addresses listed in the mailing list? Or perhaps a telemarketing call to a physician might be more appropriate? The choice is yours. In short, a physician list definitely guarantees that you'll to be better equipped with the necessary information regarding your potential clients.

Another reason why you should consider using a physicians' list is that it allows you greater flexibility for market segmentation. This is important especially for specialized products as you would not want to find yourself in a situation where your product is targeted towards too broad an audience. For instance, imagine you're selling a specialized product that is widely needed by surgeons, say, surgical scalpels. Ideally, you would want a list of surgeons throughout the country where you would be able to market your product for potential sales. In this case, a physician list would provide you with greater capabilities for market segmentation and better targeting of your potential customers.

Sales and marketing aside, a physician list would be required if you are doing market research and compiling statistics from medical practitioners throughout the country. It would be extremely time consuming and cumbersome to source out each and every one of the more than five hundred thousand physicians throughout the United States. Rather, a physician list would provide you with the necessary information at hand, allowing you to contact the physician directly, saving time on coming up with your own list. This would allow you to focus on other more important aspects of your work.

Last but not least, a physician list can also be utilized for personal purposes. A list of physicians on hand would allow you to locate the physician nearest to your location in the event of a medical emergency. Also, with the various categorizations of physicians according to their areas of specialization, one would be able to seek out the physician required for treating a particular ailment.
