Around the early 20th century, most of the medical staff including doctors and nurses wore a buttoned white garb that gave the medical profession an extremely serious face. This is not all; the traditional white dress was not made from any hygienic material unlike the medical scrubs of today. This was due to the fact that most of the medical practitioners did not have enough information or knowledge regarding the spreading of diseases through germs.
