They Are Just The Same - Articles Surfing

People often get confused about generic drugs and brand name drugs. And they often ask the same questions. Are they the same? Do they work the same? Is it as effective as the brand name drugs? The answer to all these questions is yes. Actually, when a drug company first manufactures a drug, he is the only company entitled to produce that drug, provided it is produced in the same country only. The company can mass produce the drugs for only a limited period of years. But after this, other drug companies can then manufacture their own drugs like the first company developed. This other companies' drugs are called generic drugs..

There is not much difference between generic drugs and brand name drugs. They have the same active ingredients. Although they may differ in packaging and pill size and color, just the same, what is inside the generic drug is the same as to what is inside the brand name drug. And they work in exactly the same way. Different drug companies producing the same kind of generic drugs tend to make their products different from other drug companies so as to distinguish them from their competition, but never doubt their effectiveness because they are exactly the same. They contain the same active ingredients and are geared to perform the exact same purpose. Sometimes, same type of brand name drugs produced in different countries under the same drug company also tends to have different looks. For example, Celexa 20 mg in the United States is peach colored. Canada's Celexa 20 mg pill is white and slightly smaller than the United States pill, but they are exactly the same. Generic pills also tend to look different because they are manufactured by different drug companies.

Another question repeated time and time again regarding generic drugs is if it is safe to be taken as compared to the brand name drug. The answer again is yes. They are the same, and its effectiveness is the same. The quality, potency, purity, and stability of generic drugs are the same as brand name drugs. They also have the same dosage form. Like any other drug, generic drugs should have undergone evaluation and approval from the Untied States Food and Drug Administration of FDA.

The only difference between generic drugs and brand name drugs is the cost. Brand name drugs tend to command a higher price than generic drugs. If you buy generic drugs rather than brand name drugs, you will find that you can save up to 80% from generic drug purchase. Brand name drugs tend to be more expensive than generic drugs because of the cost of research and development associated in manufacturing and producing brand name drugs and the advertising cost that will be used for the brand name drugs. Generic drugs are less expensive because they do not have the high cost of research and development, and generic drugs do not have marketing costs and advertising costs so they can sell the drug a lot cheaper. For more, click on trustpharma.com
