Waterproof Bed Pads When Dealing With Incontinence - Articles SurfingIf you are or someone you love is suffering from incontinence it can be very frustrating waking up in the middle of the night to an accident, all the bed linens, sheets, blankets, and also you or your loved one will have to be changed. It can be difficult to deal with and very humiliating for the one with the problem. If they are feeling bad to begin with, or are confined to their bed for rest or recovery then they have to rely on the help of others when an accident occurs. Using waterproof bed pads is one way of relieving some stress from the situation for the patient and the care taker. Waterproof bed pads are a great way to keep the sheets and mattress dry. The pads are filled with multi ply material for absorbency and have a polypropylene backing for extra protection against leaks. There are various sizes and types to choose from. The hospitals use the waterproof bed pads for patients which have recently undergone surgery or procedure and are confined to bed rest. The pads help create less workload for the health care provider while allowing the patient to stay dry in the event of an accident. The pads work well for patients who need to remain in bed and are receiving sponge baths from their health care provider, there will be no need to change all the bedding after the sponge bath is over, just change the pad. This does make it easier for both the patient and the nurse, as there is less moving and lifting the patient. Waterproof bed pads can be great at home for children who still have accidents. The rubber sheets do protect the mattress, but you still have to change the sheets in the middle of night when the child wakes up wet. Waterproof bed pads are an easier solution, they will protect the mattress along with keeping the sheets and the child dry, so when they awaken from their sleep and find that they are wet from an accident it will only be necessary for them to change their pajamas and replace the pad. The pads are made to be breathable so they will not trap in odor; they stay fresh longer than most pads and give you time to dispose of them before dealing with the strong urine smell. When we are dealing with incontinence, we have enough stress in our lives as it is, why make it harder on ourselves by dealing with all the laundry it can create. You can lay down a small pad or large pad; some have wings to tuck under the mattress to keep it in place for restless sleepers. The waterproof pads are comfortable and easy to sleep on; they create very little noise and are quite soft and flexible. The comfort of waking up and not having to change the entire bed dressing and only having to reach for a new pad and clean pair of pajamas will make it worth sleeping on.
