4 Natural Dandruff Treatments You Can Use At Home - Articles SurfingOK, so you've read up on the internet about all the nasty ingredients that get put into regular off the shelf dandruff shampoos and you'd rather try something that treats your hair with respect. So what is the best dandruff treatment at home? 1. Apple Cider Vinegar Dandruff Cure This is one of the natural cures that has been around for centuries, so it's stood the test of time and been proven over all these years. Apple cider vinegar works by killing off the fungus that cause all those nasty white flakes that break out on your scalp. Use this in conjunction with a regular shampoo - any gentle, PH balanced shampoo will be fine. Ideally the more natural this shampoo is, the better. Mix together two parts of apple cider vinegar to one part warm water. If you don't like the cidery smell, add a few drops of essential oils to mask the vinegar smell. Do this mixing first, then once you've shampooed, pour it over your hair. Or, if you prefer more control over the application, put it in a sprayer bottle and spray it on your hair. Massage the mixture into your scalp. Leave it to dry. There's no need to rinse it out. Indeed, the remedy will likely be more effective if you don't rinse but if the smell bugs you too much then feel free to rinse it out after an hour or so. 2. Fenugreek Seeds This one needs a bit more advance preparation but nothing too complicated - just mainly time. Soak a few tablespoons of fenugreek seeds overnight in a bowl of water. Next day, grind the seeds into a paste - a regular food blender works fine for this. Once you've got your paste, massage it into your scalp and leave it there for about an hour before rinsing the mixture out. 3. Teatree Oil You've probably seen this as an ingredient in various shampoos but you can also buy the oil separately. Teatree oil is a natural form of antiseptic, which is why it works for this treatment. Pour off some of your regular shampoo and add a few tablespoons of teatree oil into the bottle in the space you've just created. Then mix well before applying your shampoo as normal. You'll need to remember to shake your shampoo bottle before each use if the oil doesn't fully mix. Experiment with different brands if necessary and use a clear bottle to remind you to do this. 4. De-stress your life Dandruff can often be our body's way of telling us that there is too much stress in our life. Find ways to cut down the amount of stress you're exposed to. You can do this by taking up a relaxation method such as yoga or meditation. Or it could even be as simple as changing your routine slightly so that your drive to work isn't a nose to tail traffic jam. You'll likely know what stresses you out in your life. Taking steps to reduce this stress will help you in more ways than just your dandruff infested hair.
