With the advent of modern medical technology and the use of laser treatments, many are finding that they are able to treat their vein dysfunction in very little time and minimal healing times as well. For some, the treatment of vein disorder is easier than it has ever been. For spider veins treatment, there are a number of treatment options that involve minimal treatment and recovery time. This is due to medical breakthroughs as well as the fact that spider veins tend to be less invasive and less serious. Varicose veins are generally more serious and treatments tend to be slightly more invasive. Yet for both types of vein dysfunction, patients are finding that they are able to receive adequate and successful treatments based on their particular needs. For spider veins sufferers, there is the successful laser treatment to remove them, which causes the veins to collapse and blood to be released. Sclerotherapy is largely the same, yet involves an injection into the veins rather than a the use of a laser on the epidermis. Since lasers involve no injections or anesthesia, they are generally to be preferred for those that desire the most minimally invasive treatment option available. For those that suffer from painful varicose veins, there are treatment options that are minimally invasive, compared especially to the days of surgery. Surgery was formerly the most popular treatment for varicose veins and in some cases may still be necessary yet this depends on the patient's health and the vascular system's health as well. Varicose veins are more severe generally because they are larger and can cause major pooling of blood in areas and this is never a good thing. This can affect the vascular health of the body overall and the heart as well. For such veins, a procedure which uses a catheter to slowly seal the vein and causes the vein to close is the most popular treatment option. This process can be performed under local anesthesia and side effects are minimal. As with spider veins, patients will note that they are able to get back to work or regular daily activities in minimal time which is usually a concern for anyone that is looking for a way to keep down time at a minimum. In most cases, vein disorder can be prevented to some extent with proper weight control, an active lifestyle, and a healthy diet. Being overweight is one of the leading causes of vein dysfunction next to hormone changes, aging, and genetics. Many find that by altering certain lifestyle habits, they can limit the occurrence of vein disorder to a great degree. Over time, the body naturally ages and the elasticity and strength of veins can also be diminished. This involves the relaxing of vein walls and valves which can lead to pooling of blood in the smallest veins, to the largest. Usually, larger veins cause smaller veins to malfunction as the larger veins are unable to actively pump blood back to the heart without a backward flow of blood.
