Achieving Great Success With Positive Self-Talk and Imagery
It doesn't seem to matter how confident we come across, all of us have these negative thoughts that run through our heads from time to time. It's true!
Many of us have these negative thoughts more often than others, and some people have great coping skills for their inner negativity, but if you don't yet have this there are some great tools that can help you achieve great success despite a few false starts in life. When you are your own worst critic it can be difficult to attain the goals that you set out to reach because you are always talking yourself out of your abilities to live the life you wanted.
Using Positive Self-Talk and Imagery
A great way to combat the negative thoughts in your head is through positive self-talk. For a lot of people this is a very foreign concept that they feel very silly considering in the beginning, but once they get the hang of it they decide that this is a great option to combat any self doubt and actually move forward toward those goals that they have set for themselves. Positive self-talk is basically responding to the negative thoughts running through your mind. So, when you tell yourself that you cannot possibly stick to your diet you can respond with, "I am losing weight for me, because I love me." When your respond to your own mind in this way you are taking the power away from the negative statement, effectively neutralizing it and feeling more positive about your abilities.
Another great tool to help you attain your goals is positive imagery. When you know that your goals are within your reach and you are starting to doubt yourself: stop! What you need to do is take a quiet moment for yourself and really picture yourself reaching and even surpassing your goals. Really revel in the way that it feels to reach your goal and excel at something that you set out to do. When you do this, you are literally creating a pathway in your mind, one that is powerful enough for you to draw on in those moments of self-doubt when you are thinking about giving up. Positive imagery really is a powerful tool and you can use to any time, to envision yourself going about reaching all of your goals, both big and small.
