Are You Getting In Your Own Way? - Articles Surfing

Some of us are our own worst enemy. We are harder on ourselves than anyone else would ever be. Often this can be remedied by making simple adjustments in our vocabulary. Negative words and phrases in our thoughts or in our communication with others place a limitation on us. We must rid ourselves of our self-defeating ideas in order to make a lasting positive difference.

Here are some negative words and phrases which rob us of our hope and darken the possibilities for the good things in life:

'I can't'' ' This automatically puts you in the mindset that things are impossible.

'I'll try'' ' Suggests a lack of total commitment to your effort.

'If only'' and 'I wish I could'' ' Fills your mind with doubt and limitations.

Other limiting phrases include:

'It's impossible',' 'It's too difficult',' 'It's unworkable''

Words that are condemning, judging, or which devalue us to others create a negative impression of ourselves which places limits on our true abilities.

All of these phrases serve as shackles that will keep you stuck. You were meant to soar, to grow, to reach your full potential. Release yourself and use words that promote growth and achievement.

For positive growth, use words such as: 'I will',' 'I can',' and 'I must''

You are the guardian of your thoughts and communication. Watch your words carefully. If you catch yourself using negative words and phrases, simply correct yourself with positive thought or statement and then go on.

Your language determines your destiny. This includes the spoken word as well as the unspoken word. So even if you're not saying these negative things out loud, the thoughts will be just as effective at destroying your present and your future.

You Become What You Think About! This is the formula for success. Yes, it boils down to these six words. You Become What You Think About! This formula demands that you keep your thoughts and conversation on the things you want and off the things you don't want.

Since your language determines your destiny, this same formula for success can be a formula for disaster if you don't harness your thoughts and words and direct them to the outcome you desire.

With just a little discipline on your part you can become your greatest ally. It takes the same amount of energy to be positive as it does to be negative. Being negative brings consequences while being positive brings opportunities. Make your destiny be the brightest it can be. Commit yourself to positive language.
