Car Hire From Menorca Airport - Articles Surfing

Majorca and Ibiza's sleepy little sister comes to life with car hire. Renting a car in Menorca gives you the freedom to explore this beautiful island at a pace that suits you. Situated in the Balearic Island group, Menorca offers plenty of attractions for history enthusiasts and culture vultures, as well as beautiful and expansive sandy beaches. Car hire in Menorca allows you to enjoy everything that this magical island has to offer, from the island's many cultural charms to its natural beauty spots. The island capital, Mahon is characterised by its wonderful Georgian houses and dramatic cliff-top setting, while the beaches that surround the island offer the perfect setting for some r and r. Menorca has just about everything that you could want from a holiday, the only problem is where to start first. The following is a guide to the best ways to spend your time.

Menorca Mini Guide:

Menorca airport is located 4.5km southwest of Mahon, which is the island's capital. The airport offers a range of services and facilities including restaurants, bars, caf's and duty-free. Airlines serving the airport include: Easyjet, Monarch and British Airways.

Things To See/Do in Menorca:

Menorca is the second largest, but quietest of the Balearic Islands. The island is popular with sun holidaymakers looking for a relaxing Mediterranean vacation.

Walking is one way to discover what the island has to offer in terms of culture and history. Local places of interest, which can be accessed by foot, include: Es Tudons, pre-historic burial chamber, which is the one of the oldest buildings in Europe and La Mola, the fortress located at the north end of Mahon harbour.

With over one hundred beaches to explore, Menorca offers plenty of scope for touring. A drive up to Menorca's highest point Monte Toro offers a spectacular view of the island, with Majorca even visible on a clear day.
Why not hire a car and make a journey out to one of the best beaches on the island at Cala Galdena. The resort of Santo Tomas is another sandy haven worth a visit. Meanwhile, those looking for a more active holiday will enjoy the wide range of water sports on offer, including sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling, and diving. Tennis and golf are other popular outdoor activities in Menorca.

Eating Out/Nightlife/Accommodation in Menorca:

Eating out in Menorca is a treat for all-whatever your budget. Local specialities include fish and seafood dishes. Given Menorca's island status, quality sea fare such as squid, prawns and lobster are available at a low cost. Cheap bites are easy to find as many bars and caf's serve Tapas- small tasty snacks like olives, meat and fish, which accompany drinks, sometimes for free!

Menorca has a more laid-back nightlife than her Balearic neighbours. The liveliest nightlife is to be found in the resorts' clubs and bars. There is also a range of English pubs and clubs. Discos and nightclubs don't usually open until after 11pm.

Accommodation in Menorca is well established and offers something to suit all budgets and requirements. Luxury hotels are available at all major resorts as well as cheap self-catering accommodation for those sticking to a more thrifty holiday budget.
