Benefits Of The Balance Beam Exercise! - Articles Surfing

The early studies on balance beam exercises focused on how exercise helped people with heart disease. Soon, we realized that exercise could also reduce the risk of diabetes. Since then, the list has grown considerably.

People who exercise regularly lower their risk of hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, depression, anxiety, sleep problems and frailty. Frailty is a special problem for the elderly because it leads to bad falls and generally poor health. We know now that even the frail benefit from exercise. One of the main benefits of exercise is that it increases lean tissue in the body. Lean tissue includes muscle, bone, and internal organs, basically everything in the body except fat. We tend to lose lean tissue as we age. Exercise helps keep your weight under control and reduces the risk of stroke. More recently, studies have also shown that people who exercise are less likely to get breast or colon cancer.

Since exercise is proven to be ultimately good for you body, throw in some strength exercises while you're at it and get yourself a balance beam and stretch those muscles for a healthier, stronger and more agile new you!

What is the Typical Dimension of a Balance Beam?

' Height 125 cm (including about 20 cm landing mats)
' Length 5 m
' Width 10 cm

The length of a balance beam needed can be 4', 8', 12', 16', 20',...to "Infinity." Each balance beam is constructed and styled like regulation balance beams and is normally designed to allow you to connect additional sections together easily. To get the length you need, just keep adding more sections together! You can create one extremely long low beam training station or a series of shorter beams to maximize the useable space in your gym, or in your home. Low Beam lessens the fear of falling for the beginner or the advanced student learning an extremely difficult skill. A must for every gym, yet practical for use at home.

Originally, the beam surface was plain polished wood. Since the 1980s, beams have been covered in leather or suede. In addition, they are now also sprung to accomodate the stress of high-difficulty tumbling and dance skills.
