Food For Thought: Broccoli Sprouts For Your Health - Articles Surfing

Broccoli is a one of the most nutritionally active vegetables. You can either eat it raw with a dip, tossed into a stir fry or steamed and served with a dollop of butter. Another versatile vegetable is broccoli sprouts. Just as scrumptious as broccoli, broccoli sprouts can be a great alternative in the traditional sense.

Broccoli sprouts are easy to grow and you don't even need to have a large vegetable garden on your property to enjoy the homegrown sprouts in a matter of days. You can add this tasty vegetable to a sandwich or a salad. Broccoli sprouts is full of antioxidants and contains all of the same nutrients more than the big heads of broccoli we are used too.

Don't worry if you don't have a green thumb, you can still enjoy the nutritional benefits of broccoli sprouts as they are available at most supermarkets. Generally you will find them placed near the broccoli however they are best when they are fresh. You can tell how fresh they are by their texture. Broccoli sprouts should be crunchy and firm.

A majority of children stay away from vegetables that are especially not known to them. Trying new things is often the last thing they want to do. Hence time must be taken to explain that the sprouts are just another type of the broccoli that they like in their salad or with dip, they will be more likely to give them a chance. For those who don't like broccoli than it might be best not to reveal that the sprouts are actually just another variety of that.

Another effective way to introduce the younger members of your family is to add broccoli sprouts to their familiar dishes. This can be added to a beef stir fry or chicken chow mein that in turn will blend well with the other ingredients.

Adding the sprouts to other dishes is just as simple. Salads are family favorites and often contain a variety of vegetables including tomatoes, carrots and radishes. You can toss in a few broccoli sprouts that will only add to the crispness and flavor of the salad.

For a number of people broccoli just isn't one of their favorite foods on their list. For these people the idea of eating another food that is related to the vegetable is really unappetizing. Yet it's vital to note that the flavor of the broccoli sprouts is different than the flavor of a head of broccoli.

Broccoli sprouts are a reasonably priced way to add great heath benefits that are beyond basic nutrition to your menu. Experiment with them and create some wonderful dishes of your own.
