Getting That Fat Out Of Your Body - Articles SurfingLiposuction otherwise known as Tumescent, is a procedure where you can have areas of fat removed from different parts of your body by the use of small instruments that are called cannulas. The surgeon will make small incisions or holes on the body that are a quarter inch in diameter. He or she can then insert the instruments to be used to remove areas of fat. These instruments are attached to a medical grade A vacuum which suctions out broken up or tiny portions of fat and drains them into a canister. During the Procedure On the day you go in for your procedure, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions to both the doctor and the nurse. This is when you will sign all of your final forms. The surgeon will then mark your body for the areas that will be worked on. Next, you'll have your IV put in. Generally are given a mild sedative in the form of a pill to help relax you. Once you're in the operating room, the places for incisions will be injected with a numbing solution. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours to complete the procedure depending on the type of procedure you're having done. The anesthetics must be done slowly to ensure that the area is numbed well. This is done to make the patient more comfortable. If done correctly, most patients say they experience little to no discomfort at all. Some patients even watch TV or take a nap while the procedure is being done. After the procedure Once the procedure is done, you're taken to a post-operative area for recovery. This is were they will dress the areas where the procedures were done. They generally watch you for lease an hour and then discharge you. You need to be sure you have someone to take you home and then you have to rest for the remainder of the day. For after care medications, generally most patients can get by with just extra strength Tylenol, depending on how much work you have done. Risks and Cost Their little risks involved with this type of procedure. Some people may have an allergy to one of the medications used or have a fluid collection after the surgery. Very few people have experienced a lumpiness or dimpling in the area that was worked on. And of course some people may have a reaction to the bandages used. The cost of the procedure depends on the amount of work that needs to be done. You will generally incur three different types of fees. Which would be the facility, anesthesia and surgeon fees.
