Keeping The Passion Alive In The Bedroom - After The Age Of 50 - Articles Surfing

Many people have no problem being passionate with each other when their relationship first begins. Everything is so new and exciting that even the slightest little thing can stimulate you. However, many relationships lose their passion as the years wane on. This is a problem for both males and females.

It is easy enough for couples just starting out to keep the romance alive. It seems no matter what you are doing, from taking a stroll on the beach to taking out the garbage, new lovers seem to want to kiss and cuddle at any opportunity. But, for almost all couples, that cools off over time. The couples that say that is untrue do not tell you their secret * they work on keeping the romance alive.

Almost 50% of all Americans 60 and older are still sexually active, yet 40% say they would like to have more. What causes problems in the bedroom after you reach a certain age? Several things can cause a decrease in sexual desire including menopause for women, erectile problems in men, and stress and exhaustion in both sexes.

However, sex after the age of 50 can be the best in your life. There are things you do not have to worry about anymore such as pregnancy. With the new discovery of Viagra, men no longer have to worry about erectile problems. But, you still need an intimacy that no pill can create to have great passion.

What is the answer? Believe it or not, passion can be reinstated by one simple thing * communication! Most people 50 and over were raised in a generation where talking about sex was taboo. But, in order to be able to tell your partner what you need and want and to find out what they need and want, communication is key.

How do you start the conversation? Here are some hints:

*Realize that this is not just a one-time thing. To restore the passion in your love life successfully, you will need to stay in steady communication about it with your partner. Remember that the hard part is starting the conversation the first time. Take your time and think through what you want to say to your partner and how you want to say it. Sex can be a very touchy subject and you do not want to alienate your partner with the wrong words.

*Consider the setting of where your conversation will occur. If you decide to talk to him or her when you are in bed one night, set the scene with candles and wine. You could also have a heart to heart conversation in front of the fireplace or while walking down a beach. The important thing is to be sure that both of you are relaxed when you decide to initiate this conversation.

*Keep your sense of humor about things when you are talking and also ask his or her opinion on different matters you are discussing. Everyone's desire comes and goes from time to time due to many different factors in our daily lives, but if you communicate well with your partner, you may be able to ease any relationship stress.

*Consider that your partner may also be worried about the lack of passion and that may be causing stress * only intensifying the problem! When you openly communicate, you are taking the first step to restoring the passion.

*Finally, reassure your partner that you still love him or her and these conversation is only to help both of you regain passion. If you have noticed your partner being stressed over something in particular, you can mention it without making it sound like it is their fault the passion is lacking in the bedroom. Ask if you can help him or her with the problem or if it will help them to relax more in the bedroom if you gave them a back massage. This conversation should be a positive thing, not finger pointing at who the guilty party is.

You do not have to settle for routine and boring sex if you do not want to. Just take a few simple steps such as talking to your partner about your desires and asking him or her about theirs and you might be amazed at how much better your love life gets!
