Pocket Watch An Elegant Gift - Articles SurfingMan has always been preoccupied about time * past, present and future. Scientific research, books, and movies have been created to help us precisely and accurately tell time. Man has come a long way from predicting time through sundials and candles to the present clocks and watches, where even the minutest measure of time is captured. Clocks and watches have gone a long way since five to six centuries ago. Previously, people can only know the precise time by looking at big clocks atop churches and town halls, much like the Big Ben in London. Now, however, we can know time just by looking at our wrists, fingers, or even pens. After all these years, however, the timepiece that has caught the fancy of man the longest is the pocket watch. Not only is this strapless time-telling contraption the first type of portable, handheld watch, it is also a symbol of wealth and high status for all these years. In the 15th to the turn of the 20th century, a man seen carrying a pocket watch is always perceived as erudite, sophisticated and important person in the community. Until now, even if pocket watches are no longer in fashion, men wearing pocket watches are still perceived as respectable, noble and intelligent. It is almost every man's dream to own a pocket watch, no matter how simple and old it is. Hence, a pocket watch is a great gift to someone very special to you * your husband, your father, grandfather, and even your mentor or long-time friend. I am sure that as a men age, it gets harder and harder to find a gift that they will appreciate and treasure. Most men already have dozens of ties, letter openers, personalized pens and even wristwatches. Giving them such common gifts on a very special day, such as their 70th birthday or 50th wedding anniversary, seem inappropriate and mundane. Thus, when you want to give that special man in your life a gift he will surely remember and treasure, be sure to consider giving him a pocket watch. Not only is this gift rare and unique, but also elegant and grand. Gifting a pocket watch to a man is like giving a huge diamond ring to a woman. Since most manufacturers have stopped producing pocket watches, you may find it difficult to procure such a timepiece in department stores and even watch shops. The best way to find a pocket watch is through antique stores or online auction sites, such as eBay. Researching and searching for pocket watches might be a very difficult task, but it is one that will probably reward you with a fine catch, there are many watches on the market, and many of these watches are very valuable, and would make a wonderful gift.
