How to Plan a Long Distance Baby Shower Event - Articles SurfingAre you planning a long-distance baby shower for a loved one or a close friend who has moved away? If so, read on' because these words were written just for you! Long-distance baby showers are becoming increasingly popular and much more fun and easier to put together. Not too long ago, a box of gifts shipped across the country was considered the typical long distance shower. When received, Mom-to-be would open the box, filled with smaller boxes and cards and call it a celebration. It's not that this gesture wasn't appreciated; it just wasn't much of a celebration. With the help of the Internet, planning a fun filled long-distance baby shower is easier than you might think. The majority of the arrangements can be made from the comfort of your home, on the internet and the event can be much more in a single box of baby gifts. If the guest of honor is the only attendee now living in the area, you can plan a traditional shower and videotape the entire event. This way friends and family and get together and enjoy the day, while celebrating the occasion. You can upload the video on YouTube and each guest can record a memorable keepsake for the new mom filled with good wishes, advice and whatever else they want to tell her. You can send out invitation, play games, serve food, ect' just as you would if Mom was there. You might even decide to ask the guests, to bring their gifts unwrapped. That way you could incorporate gift wrapping into the shower, as part of the presentation. Since Mom won't be there, you might want to incorporate the following into the festivities. Either ask each guest to tell a funny story about her or how they met her' or both. When it comes time to ship the package, there are several things you will want to include besides the gifts. (Keep in mind this is not a comprehensive list. Feel free to add other items, to the box, if they will add to the fun.) Items to add can include: an invitation, confetti, helium filled balloons (if you have a really big box), recipes for all of the munchies that were served in the shower (or the actual munchies themselves if they will ship well). And of course, last but not least, the videotape or DVD of the shower itself. As the hostess of the shower you might suggest to guests that smaller gifts and/or gift cards are much easier to ship. The majority of them will probably agree and decide to opt for something other than a car seat or crib. You can also gave each guest the option of ordering gifts online and shipping them themselves. Although this particular shipping method is probably best for guests who live out of town. Following these simple tips will make it much easier when you are planning a long-distance baby shower. With a bit of planning they can be just as enjoyable as a traditional shower.
