Article writing is a wonderful way to get traffic to your website, and to establish yourself as an expert in your field. If you take the time to do a little extra work, it will pay off by making your articles even more successful.

Even the best article writer sometimes has trouble coming up with topics. Try bookmarking some blogs, news sites, and other websites about the things you like to write about. Then when you're short on ideas you can pull them up quickly and see what the hottest topics are.

When you do get started writing, don't forget to proofread! Sure there's spell check, but it doesn't catch everything. Two things that keep a lot of otherwise great articles from being published are bad grammar and misspelled words. If you aren't so great in those areas, get someone else to proofread for you.

Length can be a deciding factor when it comes to getting your articles published. Different websites and newsletters have different length requirements, but in general newsletter publishers like shorter articles due to space concerns. The article should be long enough to provide the promised information, but short enough that readers don't lose interest halfway through.

Many people write articles and then only submit them to one or two sites. This severely limits the number of publishers who will see them. We all know that it is time consuming to go to a lot of different sites, tweak the article to meet their acceptance guidelines, and submit it. One way around this is to join article announcement groups. You can send your article out to people who have signed up for announcements, then if they want to use it but need modifications they can let you know.
