Claiming Accident Compensation In Edinburgh - Articles SurfingEdinburgh is the capital of Scotland and the second largest city in Scotland after Glasgow. The capital is located south-east of Scotland with a rugged setting and vast collection of medieval and Georgian architecture. Edinburgh is often considered one of the most picturesque cities in Europe and has been Scotland's capital since 1437. There are two main areas within Edinburgh, old and new town. Both old town and new town have been listed as UNESCO world heritage sites; they were added to the list back in 1995. The city also has over 4,500 listed buildings and Edinburgh stands as one of Europe's major tourist destinations, attracting 13 million visitors a year. As well as this it is also the second most visited areas of the UK, after London. The city has been nicknamed Auld Reekie, which is Scottish for Old Smokey. The reason behind this nickname is because of how the buildings used to be heated by coal and wood fires, the chimneys would spew out thick columns of smoke into the air. The district of Old Town is said to have preserved its medieval plan. This district is closed at one end by Edinburgh Castle and the main artery. The Royal Mile, which is the ever popular name for the succession of streets which form the main thoroughfare of Edinburgh's Old Town. The street layout is typical of the old quarters of many northern European cities, and where the castle perches on top of a rocky crag (the remnants of an extinct volcano) the Royal Mile runs down the crest of a ridge from it. The district of New Town was produced as an 18th century solution to the problem of increasingly crowded Old Town. The success of New Town was so successful that it was extended. The grid pattern was not maintained, but rather a more picturesque layout was created. Today the New Town is considered by many to be one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture and planning in the world. Edinburgh is well-known for the annual Edinburgh Festival, a collection of official and independent festivals held annually over about four weeks from early August. The number of visitors attracted to Edinburgh for the Festival is roughly equal to the settled population of the city. Due to the busy nature of the town, combined with the history and areas of open walking space, having an accident in Edinburgh could leave you with severe personal injury. Personal injury accidents is a broad term that covers aspects such as road traffic accidents, work place accidents and slip, trips and falls as well as medical negligence. Suffering any of these whilst out in the city could mean you are entitled to compensation. If you are involved in an accident that was caused through no fault of your own then it is advised you get in touch with a personal injury accident lawyer. Claiming for compensation in the UK has become easier in recent years due to the introduction of no win no fee claims. Claiming for compensation on a no win no fee basis means you keep 100% of the compensation that you are awarded in a successful claim with your solicitor's fees being paid by the losing party's insurance. No win no fee replaced legal aid, legal aid meant that without the proper funding you couldn't claim for compensation but with no win no fee claims you have no fees to pay meaning anyone can put a claim in for compensation.
