Probably not, a lot has changed since the advent of the Internet. Ever wonder what the affiliate marketer does? Now that affiliate marketing relies solely on the Internet, here's what they typical work day looks like: Wake up at a reasonable time, not too early, but not too late. Take time for breakfast, trust me on this one . . . Turn the computer on and time to see what went on over night. Once finished with the morning coffee or tea, time to get serious: Check ongoing statistics and look for areas to tweak. Depending on current projects, one may have system updating. Web site design is constantly being updated. As the seasoned affiliate marketer knows that an attractive site will bring in more visitors, not to mention their sales conversion rates. Once updating has finished, the marketer continues the daily regiment of submitting affiliate programs to directories. Directories may or may not require a fee. The smart marketer limits fee requiring directories and knows how to conserve marketing dollars. After completing your daily submissions, time to track your sales. As an affiliate, quite often you yourself have affiliates under you. Do they have questions? Are your affiliates bringing in sales or even more affiliates? Keep track of all contact information as this information is invaluable. Time must be set aside daily to sort out resources. The affiliate marketer must decide what Ads, banners and buttons to run. These tools are a great way of keeping product and service information in the public eye. When a prospect is ready to buy, they will remember where they saw your product. The marketer must check his or her email. Scan quickly for questions from visitors. Response time is one way visitors determine reliability. Keep a potential customer or partner happy by getting back to them quickly! Be friendly, but at all times maintain professionalism. Time to talk with peers. Chat rooms and forums are available to not only learn from, but to lend your own expertise. A successful affiliate marketer will at least check for product updates or promotions in the forum that supports the product being promoted. Who hasn't made his or her share of mistakes? What better way to learn, but from each other? Take time to read forums and opinions about marketing strategies. General forum discussions may also lead to others wanting to know more about the product you market! Find time to read newletters and e-zines. The affiliate marketer will learn what is currently happening in the market. What trends lie ahead? What predictions are esteemed marketers making? Much is gleaned from these publications. Time to pump up the troops! Show your appreciation for all of those that help market your product. Distribute a newsletter or write an article and include details about who is doing what and where they are headed. Everyone likes free publicity and this will help to encourage everyone to work harder. Take the time to help other marketers who have less experience than you. Not only will you get to promote your product, but you establish yourself as an authority. Not an easy task in such a competitive field! Don't be discouraged by the 'daily' list above. Think of this as the ultimate guideline. Feel free to break some of these tasks into weekly occurrences, rather than daily. But, do bear in mind that there is much to do in the day of the affiliate marketer!
