There are some desks that defy description. Papers stacked as high as an elephant's eye, pencils and pens that are lying lazily about in thick clusters until you need one, at which point they leave to play a game of Hide and Seek and forgot tell you that you are 'It.' Desk calendars from 1997. A coffee mug half - full that was used by a friend that visited you...last week. Does this sound like something from a sci-fi movie.... or does it match the description of your business or office desk? Desks tend to become the repository for everything that does not have a proper home and that term covers a lot of ground. It doesn't take that long for even the cleanest offices to suffer a meltdown if organization is not given a lot of thought. A messy desk can be interfering with your life, not just your job, which is why they make such great promotional tools. After all, who wouldn't love to get a desk set, which would help them keep organized?

The way they are made and the materials that they are made of will not only determine how useful they will really be, but it will also help determine the final look of your desk and office. You can buy one or more pieces. You need to figure what your greatest needs are and buy desk sets or pieces that will help you with your organization. If paper and letters seem to abound, then letter holders and multi-tiered baskets for both paper, and mail might be useful. There are always pencil and paper clip holders, dividers to keep articles separate and even small containers for miscellaneous items. The desk sets are bought as either a pre-packaged set or as individual items that you select in any mix and match style that suits you. Whatever you select, do not forget that a desk set can and should include a trash can.

A desk set can make a great promotional tool for any company. A bit on the expensive side, as far as promotional tools go, but they are usually given to high-end customers.

In today's business world there are so many papers, notes and communications, books, clips and stamps on the average desk that any thought of organization seems impossible. But when you start putting desk set together and using it, things don't seem so impossible anymore. The more you structure your office and discipline yourself into using these aids the sooner your office and desk will happily be clutter free.
