Have you decided to boost your website income with affiliate marketing? Great decision! There are so many great products out there to offer as an affiliate. The question now is, how do you get started? To some extent, that would depend on where you're at currently.

Product or Service Based Sites

If you already have a website, look at what products and services you're currently offering for sale and ask yourself what else your target market would be interested in. You cannot be all things to all people. It's simply not possible for you to develop every product your customer will ever want to buy, nor should you attempt to do that! Internet Marketing guru John Reese said: "People are going to buy from your competition no matter what you do. You may as well make some money doing it."

Well put! So, why not find a complementary product to offer your site visitors and customers and recommend that?

Content/ AdSense Sites

If you currently have a content site monetized with AdSense and you aren't also recommending affiliate products, take a look at which pages on your site are getting the most traffic and start making product recommendations on those pages. Is there a product or resource that you use and would be recommending anyway? Check and see if there is an affiliate program attached and sign up.

Starting From Scratch

If you don't currently have a website, think first (and think seriously about this!) about who you want to market to. Get very clear on your target market and start building a list of opt in subscribers so you can begin marketing to them. One of the easiest ways to do this is to create a mini site, which is basically an opt in page that encourages people to sign up for a free ecourse or newsletter.

Later on you can learn the techniques to help you make more affiliate sales. But for now, just get started somewhere!
