My First Steps Into The World Of Affiliate Marketing - Articles SurfingI had never heard of affiliate marketing until 6 months ago. i was sat at home surfing the internet one weekend when i thought to my self "how can i make some money using the internet?" so i typed in home working into google and had a look. I came across various Data Entry sites promising i could earn thousands of dollars just by typing simple data into a form.i could give up work and then sit back and get paid every 2 weeks. "Start earning money in 15 minutes" is the quote i remember most. I was intrigued. how the hell can you earn thousands of dollars by typing a few lines into a form, and if i could, why wasn`t everybody doing it. I spent the rest of the day researching Data Entry programs. During my search i came across Clickbank. Clickbank is a site for merchants to sell their digital products(Ebooks and software). Clickbanl will basically handle all the backend stuff such as payments etc. They also have a network of affiliates who help to sell these products for a commission. I signed up straight away. During my research i also came across google adwords and set up an account with them. I chose a product from clickbank i wanted to promote and typed in my first advert. This took about 15 minutes from set up to finish. 15 minutes!!! Funny that! So there you have it. I was tempted to buy a Data Entry package but with a little research, i had managed to find everything i needed to get me started in the world of affiliate marketing. I had over 10,000 products to chose from, i had my adwords account, i had millions of potential customers. How could i go wrong? My first advert was for an Ipod download site. That cost me $30 with no sales. My next product was for a PSP download site, another $30 wasted and i managed to get banned from a PSP forum for spamming.LOL I gave up adwords for a while to resaerch it further. I gave up download sites for the simple reason being, most people are looking for free stuff. I had good click through rate (C.T.R) but most of my traffic was probably looking for freebies. I thought i would try Niche products. I had better success with these. I advertised a Tropical Fish guide book, which got me my first sale. There wasn`t to many people competeing with me and my advert was on page 1 on google for all my targeted keywords. I made around $100 over a couple of weeks. My next blast of sales was from a guide book about ferrets. That netted me around $150 in a few weeks. At last i was making some cash. So i know i can make money. All i need to do now is build up my revenue streams and start earning consistently. Will i give up my day job? Nope not yet.
