5 Tips For Summer Skin Care - Articles SurfingYou should be treating your skin with tender, loving care throughout the entire year. But, when summer looms, you need to give your body special attention. Even though basking in the warm glow of the sun can be soothing, the ultraviolet rays can damage your skin. Don't panic. You can enjoy being out in the sun without worrying about UV exposure. The key is to be diligent in caring for your body. In this article, we'll give you 5 tips for summer skin care that you can start using immediately. Tip #1: Use A Powerful Sunscreen Most sunscreens have an SPF value. The higher the number, the more protection it offers. However, the SPF doesn't tell you everything you need to know. It's merely a measure of protection from UVB rays. You need to use a sunscreen that can shield you from both UVB and UVA rays. It's the UVA rays that can cause premature aging, wrinkles and skin cancer. Check the back of the sunscreen package to make sure you're getting the protection your skin needs. Tip #2: Moisturize Your Skin The sun may feel nice and give your skin the tanned look you've been hoping for, but it's also affecting the cellular structure of your skin. Ultraviolet rays break down the collagen fibers. When that happens, your skin begins to lose its elasticity. Use a light moisturizing cream on your face and body. Apply it generously throughout the day. You'll want to avoid the heavy buttery creams. You need something that your skin can absorb quickly. Tip #3: Exfoliate Your Skin Your body sheds millions of cells every day. They tend to remain on the surface of your face and body. This creates 2 problems. First, the dead skin cells give your skin a dry appearance. Second, the dead cells can begin blocking your pores. That can lead to acne and other skin conditions by trapping an oily material called sebum that your body secretes. When you exfoliate your skin, you can get rid of the dead skin cells before they create a problem. Try to exfoliate a few times each week. Tip #4: Hydrate Your Body The simplest tips are often overlooked. Drink water. You've heard that your body needs 8 glasses of water a day. During the summer, try to drink more than 8 glasses. While it won't directly make your skin look better, it helps your body get rid of toxic materials and other waste. Plus, it helps transport nutrients throughout your body. This indirectly helps your skin by boosting your metabolism, helping your muscles function well and flushing your body of toxins. Tip #5: Shave Properly Most people rush through shaving. But, if you shave your legs, arms, face, or any other part of your body improperly, you can cause skin irritations. First, change the blades often. When they're dull, they can scrape your skin. Second, shave in the direction of the hair growth. If you shave against the growth, you can cause ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Lastly, use a high-quality shaving cream. Shaving creams are not created equal. Use one the lubricates and moisturizes. Skin Care And Summer Fun There's no reason you can't enjoy the summer. Just take a few steps to ensure that your skin remains healthy. Remember, a supple-looking tan may look great, but it doesn't mean your skin is in good condition. Use sunscreen, moisturize your skin, exfoliate a few times each week, remember to hydrate and shave properly. You'll find that once you build these habits, they're easy to maintain. You'll feel great. You'll look great. And you'll know that you're treating your skin with the tender, loving care it deserves.
