Brooklyn Women's Health Tips: Pelvic Congestion Facts - Articles Surfing

There are a number of health issues that affect women in a unique way. One such health issue involves the vascular system and vein dysfunction that results in pain and discomfort for women, especially those that have had children. There are a number of things that medical doctors are currently researching about women's health matters and vascular care for women is a growing field.

One vascular condition that affects women is called pelvic congestion. The disorder is not fully understood yet but many women that have had children are prone. Women that have had higher numbers of children are especially prone and the symptoms are generally vague and dull pains in the lower pelvic region. Women complain of pain that can be debilitating as well, and after tests and care, many women often find that the source of their pain is linked to vein dysfunction in the pelvic area. It is not yet known what causes vein dysfunction in this area. It is thought that repeatedly having children and the burden that this places on the body can be linked to veins expanding and shrinking a number of times which can lead to weak vein walls and valves as time goes by. Though no tests have proven what the cause is, this generally seems to explain venous disorder in this area.

There are a few treatment options for pelvic congestion but there seems to be no 'gold standard' treatment that cures a large number of patients. Some patients find that the symptoms, dull aching pain, pain during intercourse, among others, can sometimes simultaneously resolve themselves. The veins that are dysfunctional in the pelvic region are similar to varicose veins that can be found in the legs, and hemorrhoids that can occur during and after pregnancy. The veins begin to have trouble functioning when they are faced with having to pump blood back to heart amidst pressure and weight gain which can happen during pregnancy or weight gain general. So like varicose veins in the legs, pelvic congestion involves varicose veins that occur in the lower pelvic region. For some women, certain treatments that have been helpful include alternative treatment options. There are however surgical options and options that involve the use of radiology which is used to prevent further blood from entering the dysfunctional veins. The procedure does not have a high success rate and some women find that alternative treatments are the most effective ways to treat the symptoms.

For many women suffering from pelvic congestion, it is a great idea to look into how diet and fitness play a role in the disorder. Making sure to maintain a healthy weight and getting active are alternative treatment options in and of themselves. Making">All too often, those suffering from venous disorders fail to connect their lifestyle habits with their pain and discomfort. When we are eating right and maintaining an optimal weight, many symptoms associated with extra pressure on the body are alleviated. Fitness is especially important to maintain a healthy heart and vascular system well into old age.
