Hemorrhoids develop in the 2 sets of veins that are responsible for circulating blood in lower rectum and anus. a. Internal Hemorrhoids 'The internal veins swell to become internal hemorrhoids. They cannot be seen or felt unless they are severe and painful. b. External Hemorrhoids: - Swelling in the external veins of the lower rectum forms external hemorrhoids. External hemorrhoids can be felt and noticed. c. Bleeding Hemorrhoids: - Bleeding hemorrhoids is caused due to the bleeding in the internal and external hemorrhoids. Bleeding can also be the sign of cracks in the skin surrounding the anus. Blood can also come from the digestive system, so it's important to meet your doctor. As hemorrhoids occur on lower rectum and anus, most of the times treatment is carried out at home. 1. Hot hip bath- Soaking hips and buttocks in saline solution at least three times a day for 15 minutes after each bowel movement. Sit in a tub with saline warm water and be sure to dry the skin around your anus to avoid infection. 2. Change in diet- Include green leafy vegetables and fibrous diet in your daily diet. Taking fibrous diet will also benefit people suffering from constipation. Wheat, fruits, grains, and fresh vegetable are must for healthy rectum and avoid constipation. 3. Sitting posture ' Do not sit for long time and use donut cushion to lessen the pain. 4. Softening Stool ' Consult your doctor for medicines to soften stool. If medicines causes watery stool, it should not be used as it will lead to infection in the anus. 5. Right medication ' Consult your doctor for medicines and do not use medicines, creams, ointments available in the market without doctor's prescriptions. Hemorrhoids are very common and right medication, precaution, and care should be taken to treat it.
