Will Vinegar Treat Toenail Fungus? - Articles Surfing

Some people experience the dreaded toenail fungus, and luckily it is one of the few problems that have tons of cures, but many people are looking for something that can use natural remedies and not harsh chemicals and pills. Many have heard that the use of vinegar will effectively treat toenail fungus and they are right. Vinegar has natural properties that help cure or hinder the illnesses and sometimes-even help you to prevent some, in the case of toenail fungus, vinegar is a great natural remedy.

Another great thing about using vinegar is that it is inexpensive as well as effective. You can purchase white or apple cider vinegar for a dollar or two at your local supermarket or convenience store and cure your toenail fungus for pennies on the dollar instead of opting for expensive cures that cost between $6 dollars all the way up to $30 at most pharmacies. Vinegar also prevents the spread of this fungus, so you don't have to repeatedly buy medications to cure it.

When you get a fungus on any of your body parts, it will completely change the pH of the skin and make it more alkaline, this causes the tissues and cuticles to be irritated. This irritation causes you to itch and sometimes causes pain in the area. Vinegar contains an acid that will relieve itching and pain, this acidic nature also combats the further spread of the fungi microorganism and help you to cure the problem you are experiencing. This makes the use of vinegar one of the most effective ways to get rid of the fungi and prevent any further growth.

Many professionals use vinegar for a number of alternative medication, naturopaths and cosmetologists use it on a regular basis. There are many reasons why this is so popular, such as the ease of purchase. You can buy it at any local supermarket, it is a food that can be bought for little to know money and it is easy to apply. You will not need anyone to help you in its application. Most importantly, and possibly the number one reason for using this product is that it will cause no harmful side effects.

An important thing to remember is that fungus grows in a wet environment, so you will see a marked amount of growth when you sweat. When you apply any solution, lotions or anything to the area it is important to dry the area. This aids in keeping the fungus from growing and makes it unable to live. That means once you have used the vinegar as a solution, you will need to rinse and thoroughly dry the area, so that you hinder further growth of the fungi.

You will also find that there are many types of vinegar that will work on the area, such as malt vinegar, wine vinegar, raisin vinegar and rice vinegar as well as apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has been proven to be the best of all of the vinegars to cure fungal infections and has the ability to prevent any further spreading of fungi. Apple Cider vinegar is also shown to reduce inflammation and itching caused by the infection. When combined with hydrogen peroxide, it is also effective in killing bacteria and viruses as well.

The application of the vinegar should be done directly, using apple cider vinegar, undiluted to the affected area, make sure you leave it on the nail for a couple of minutes so that it has time to work, then wipe it off, wash the area and dry it thoroughly. Within a few days you should see marked improvement to the condition.
