Laughter Is The Best Medicine - Articles SurfingNow that the holidays are upon us, there seems to be a lot of self help around to help us not be stressful or get depressed. People are telling you how to enjoy the holidays and what to do to make Christmas merry or happy. I have read some things lately that I thought were excellent and one in particularly was appropriate. So, I want to share with you a hint that is ALWAYS good to keep in mind, not only during the holidays, but everyday. One of the best things to remember is to always expect the worst. It might not seem like such a happy thought during the holidays, but if you think about it, then you will see that it makes sense. If you expect the worse, then you will be extremely happy when you are surprised that it doesn't happen. I don't mean to say that we should go around life being negative, but if you don't set yourself up for perfection or total satisfaction, you will very happy to have what you do have. For example, if you expect your holiday dinner to be perfect, then you will probably be disappointed because there are always things that happen. Have you ever heard somebody say\ that something happens because of Murphy's Law? It states that if anything can go wrong, it will. If you take that attitude every time something bad happens, then you will find yourself laughing rather than getting angry or hurt. When you remember to laugh, reminds me of another thing that will help you enjoy Christmas, and that is to keep laughing. Tickle your funny bone or just laugh at all the silly things that happen around you. Laughter is the best medicine. That has been proven now. When you laugh, your body receives pleasure and releases endorphins, so that makes you healthy. So, keep laughing and look for all the incidents that prove Murphy right. You will be glad you did and your body will thank you! That is another great piece of advice, too. Take care of your body by eating and sleeping right and by exercising, which should be pretty easy to do considering everything that has to be done. So enjoy yourself and the holidays and laugh and keep expecting the worst and you will be way ahead of the game. Murphy has other laws, like 'Mother's way is best. If you don't believe it, ask her'. That is a funny thing that many people say, but in reality it does have merit, especially if you are a mother. Or how about the one about finding love? 'All the good ones are taken'. We know that is not really the case but it sure feels like it when you are the one looking for love and everybody seems to be taken or already married. Even though it may seem like there are a select few people who are right for you, it is necessary to stay away from negative or toxic people. They don't do anything to help you feel better during the holidays, so just steer clear. My last piece of advice is to make sure and make some good memories, as well as establishing some traditions. Both memories and traditions are what stay with us long after the holiday is over, so be certain to enjoy the time spent with family. Enjoy all the activities that are available during the holidays and enjoy any family that you have around you. Do things that you will remember next year and can repeat again. That is how traditions begin and that is how to make beautiful, long lasting memories, for yourself and your family. Have fun, enjoy the holidays, remember Murphy's Law, laugh, stay away from negative people, and you will see how much happier you will be while you make those lifetime memories.
