A Good, Easy And Healthy Kid Recipe

Need to come up with a good healthy kid recipe that your children will love to help make and eat? How about savoury meat balls. Lets face it whenever its dinner time every parent gets the complaint of I don't like this I don't like that so the best thing we can do as parents is to disguise what they are eating or to get them to help make it.

Get 500g of beef mince, a small onion, a teaspoon of garlic , a carrot peeled and grated, an egg and 1/2 cup of bread crumbs. Get the kids involved in this. Combine all the ingredients together and roll them into a ball do this with the remaining ingredients. Depending on the size that you make your meat balls that will determine how many meat balls you can make from the ingredients above. Place the meat balls in a non stick fry pan and cook until golden brown. You should not need oil if you do need to use some use sparingly. You can serve these in many ways also letting the kids get involved. A tossed salad , with vegies and gravy as meat balls for spaghetti sauce as beef burgers on a bun with salad.

Many researchers have found that children are more prone to try new foods if they have helped to prepare the food or helped shop for the food or helped grow the food. As a child my father said he had to always disguise vegetables so that I would eat them he would make spaghetti sauce vegetable soup and other recipes and I never knew there was vegetables in any of these because the vegies were can so small they just blended in.

Now working with children and having kids of my own I know how hard it can be to get your kids to eat healthy because we cant always wait until they are older to try their first vegetable. So we have a vegetable garden that our child helped in planting and she loves to go and pick the vegies and eat them. The other kids love to also pick the vegies and even though they don't eat theses vegies for their parents they will eat them here at our home because they helped pick wash and prepare them.

If you cant or don't want to do a vegie garden then how about getting the kids to help cook in the kitchen it could be as easy as setting them up to peel the vegetables. So how about trying this yummy kid recipe tonight.
