Stress Factors That Can Make Or Break Your Teacup's Happiness - Articles Surfing

Bringing your new teacup puppy home, traveling, being handled regularly, excessive playtime, changes in food and other factors can lead to a very stressful pup, causing diarrhea and digestive problems. To avoid stress from happening, proper puppy training and socialization should be your main responsibility. Remember that all things you do and do not do during your puppy's development stage will affect his behavior for the rest of his life. So, here are some do's and don'ts in keeping your teacup pup stress-free.

DO'S

' Start socializing your puppy by inviting friends, regardless of age, origins and gender, over to your house. You should also invite friendly and vaccinated dogs to your home to give your puppy a play date as well as try to visit the homes of other dogs and dog-friendly cats.

' Ensure that all events your dog attends are non-threatening. Avoid things, places and people that may cause him pain or fright. Introduce your teacup puppy to his own leash and collar, umbrellas, boxes, stairs and other items within his environment. Encourage your puppy to explore around your house and be comfortable with all things surrounding him.

' Get your puppy accustomed to seeing new places, unfamiliar objects, experiencing new things such as riding a car, hearing new sounds and going to crowded areas with plenty of activities. This way, he will not get scared every time he sees, hears, goes and meets someone or something new.

' Accustom your dog to grooming ' brushing, bathing, regular inspection, nail clipping, teeth cleaning, monthly checkups and other grooming routines. This way, he will not resist when other people try to care for him.

DON'TS

' Never give your dog treats when he appears frightened. Instead, calm him down until he becomes accustomed to the sound, person, place, object and anything new to his senses.

' Avoid putting your teacup puppy on the ground where other animals may have access. Since you are not aware of their health conditions, your pup may pick up various diseases. Keep your puppy away from other pets until all vaccination shots have been completed.

' Do not rush your puppy into socializing with new things, people and places. Give him time to adjust at his own pace.

Veterinarians recommend socializing your puppy up to 3 months of age. Any later than that and it would become a difficult process. Remember that a properly socialized dog usually makes a great companion. By preventing your puppy from encountering stressful events, you allow him to grow and develop happily.
