I Need Inspirational Poems - Articles SurfingIn the past few years I have gone from being someone who hates anything to do with literature or poetry to someone who searches the paper for book clubs and poetry readings to attend. The change in me didn't come because I made a new friend that loved poetry or because I just forced myself to like something new. I think the change came when I realized that life was hard and that inspirational poems were like a soothing balmm to my head and heart. It sounds silly, but that is really how I fell in love with most things to do with words: I needed the comfort and peace they provided. I guess comfort could have come from a classic novel or a letter from a friend, but instead I found the comfort and perspective I needed from reading several inspirational poems. I found one on the internet, I was given one by my mother, and I cannot seem to remember where the other inspirational poem came from. I began reading the first poem quickly and was struck immediately by the beauty and depth of meaning that each word held. I found myself quickly captivated by something I had spent years vocally and mentally making fun of. The inspirational poems were affecting me in a profound way. The years since I stumbled upon those first inspirational poems have been filled with discovering poem after poem. I could even go so far as to say that I'm addicted to almost all inspirational poems I can get my hands on. There is a life and a serenity and a right perspective that each poem holds that I need very much in my life. I guess inspirational poems are great because I desperately need someone or something to resonate with me about life. I need to know that I'm not the only one that reacts to life emotionally or that cares deeply even about small things. Another development in my love for inspirational poems came just a few months ago when I began to write inspirational poems of my own. Beginning to write instead of just read and collect poetry has brought even more depth to my love of the poetically arranged written word. Writing inspirational poems has become my primary way to release emotion, reflect upon my life and the world around me, and to dream about the days that are yet to come. It's funny, but I really cannot imagine my life without the inspirational poems that I used to loathe.
