Poker Tournament Strategy-Winning Sit And Go's - Articles Surfing

Poker is a game of skill, strategy, and luck. Today, there are more than 300,000 people that make a full-time living playing nothing but poker online. Do you know how they do that? It sure isn't cash games, they play something called a sit n go. Developing a poker tournament strategy to take down these sit and go's is something that you must do if you want to play poker online as a living. Many people work a horrible 9-5 job and are trying to find an escape from this job and work from the comfort of your own home. What better way to make a stable income playing your passion and favorite game.

Poker is one of the most exciting, adrenaline rushes ever, especially if you have lots of money riding on a single sit and go game. Now, when people jump to playing poker online, they make the mistake of playing cash games. Cash games go wrong for the following reasons:

1.When you play cash games, you run the risk of losing your entire bankroll or your entire buy-in in one hand. Once you lose a bad beat, let's say you have AA the other player has QQ, the flop comes 4, 7, J rainbow. There is no chance of a flush draw or straight draw. He goes all in, you call...the turn comes 2 and the river comes Q. Player A takes down the pot of $651.23. You lose over 345 bucks in a single hand due to a suckout. Does this scenario sound familiar? It should because it definitely happens to the best of us. Poker is a game of bad beats, the secret to poker is being able to withstand these bad beats, recover and not go on tilt. The worst feeling in the world is going on tilt. You need to shut your computer off, step away, calm down, and not turn it back on for 2-3 days. That is the BEST way to recover from tilt. You do not want to keep depositing hundreds of dollars and play like an idiot. I see it every single day. AVOID CASH GAMES IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

Now, as you can see cash games are horrible because you risk your whole bankroll in a single hand. With sit and go's you can only lose a set amount which is the buy in of the tournament. You can also when some great money in a short period of time. The buy-in of a sit and go is as follows:

1st place = 50% of the overall total prize pool
2nd place =30% of the overall total prize pool
3rd place =20% of the overall total prize pool

When you are playing sit and go's you need to go after first place every time. Too many people make the mistake of just trying to make it into the money. Remember that 1st place victory is just like finishing 3rd place 3 times in a row. It is very valuable gunning after first place. Best of luck at the poker tables!
