If it was your choice what would you do in life? Who would you be? What path would you take? Epictetus once said, 'First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.' In my opinion he was right! You can do whatever you want. Become whoever you please.

It's all about the choices that you make in life. So that you can get a better idea, below I have added examples of two individuals that want to obtain the same goal.

Example 1:

Eliza wants to become an actress. She would love to earn money acting and loves the glamorous life of stars. She firmly believes that she should be one. But, all she does it's dream and do nothing about it. In the end she never realizes her dream.

Example 2:

Monica wants to become an actress. She is determined to do it. So, she enrolls in to acting school. From there she meets more people like her and works hard at becoming the best actress that she can. Once she is confident, she tries out for auditions. She was a little disappointed because they kept turning her down but she never gave up. Until, one day when she landed a small role in a movie that led to many others. Then she was happy of reaching her goal, becoming a star.

See the difference from example one and two. It is not enough to simply wish for something. You have to work hard at getting it. Therefore, what Epictetus said it's true. Once you are clear about what you want to be. Go and do whatever it takes to accomplish it. It is all in the choices that you make. It is simple; if your choices are taking you far from your dream then you are probably making the wrong ones.
