How to Choose the Best Agency For You - Articles Surfing

There is a large number of modeling agencies all around the world. Some have a superb network of contacts, are regularly looking for new models to fulfill contracts, and can boast an enviable client list. Some agencies may require a very specific type of model to meet limited criteria on a small number of contracts. Choosing the right agency can help determine whether you will be a successful model or one struggling to find work that eventually has to find a new agent. So, how do you choose the best agency for your needs?

What Type Of Model Are You?

Before you start the hunt for a modeling agency, you first need to determine the type of modeling that is best suited to you. Some agencies may deal with a number of different types of projects, and they may take on a similar range of models. However, many agencies are only looking for a very specific model, whether that be body-part models or glamor models.

Searching For Agencies

Once you know the type modeling that you want to get into, start looking at agencies. The Internet is a good place to start ' search for agencies, take a look at their client'le and their models to see if they fit your needs. Check that the company looks professionals. If your desire is to make a full time career out of modeling then you need to find an agency that will treat it as seriously as you do.

Research The Agency

Find out as much information as possible about those agencies that you really like the look of. Find out whether they hold open calls, whether they deal solely through a scouting network, and find out about the types of shoots they are most often able to offer. Armed with this information you will be able to tailor your portfolio to closely match their needs and make your application much more likely to be successful.

Have A Shortlist

Never pin your hopes on a single agency and have a shortlist of those that you would happily commit to. Not every agency will be looking to take on new models and even those that are may not be interested in your portfolio. That doesn't mean you won't find another agency that will be interested but you will need to keep trying and keep plugging away.

The Right Approach

All agencies are looking for professionalism in their models. This means that if they have strict application policies then you should stick to them. Don't make a nuisance of yourself and, if possible, find a scout that works on behalf of that particular agency and attempt to get in that way.

Success Will Come

Every agency is different. They have different clients, different requirements, and different policies and practices. In order to stand a greater chance of a successful pitch with an agency you should always attempt to do things their way ' provide the type of portfolio they're looking for, and find out the methods they most commonly use when looking for new models. Above all, be prepared for rejection, and have a short list of agencies that you can turn to if you need to.
